YMMV / Upgrade Complete

  • Most Annoying Sound: The upgrade shop has an annoying humming noise. You can make it go away... by purchasing an upgrade, of course.
  • Nightmare Retardant: The third game has three levels to the "Heart Rate" upgrade. The first two are intentionally terribly-drawn, not-scary-at-all attempts at Screamer Pranks that also completely lack the element of surprise. The last one, not so much.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Is that Achievement Hunter's Technical Difficulties music playing in the menu at Menu Music level 2 in Upgrade Complete 2? Yes, yes it is. It's also being poorly sung to (in the form of someone singing "doo") at Menu Music level 1.
  • True Art Is Incomprehensible: Indie Mode turns the screen black and white while displaying a series of subtitles on the screen portraying a conversation between two people (also being a reference to Final Fantasy VIII's opening, with the first few lines), one spouting off nonsensical, artsy one-liners, and the other getting more and more creeped out by the former until he threatens to call the cops.
