Alternate Character Interpretation: Was Pete really in love with Sharon at the end of Season 2, or was it a subconcious desire to sabotage Sharon & Johnny's relationship out of jealousy that one of his friends had met the love of their life whilst he was still looking for "the one"?
Angst? What Angst?: Pete tells Sharon he's in love with her in the Season 2 finale. She rejects him, and he promptly flies to France. He then returns to Boston in the second episode of the season, completely over Sharon due to his new French girlfriend.
Foe Yay: Pete & Ashley. It stopped being subtext eventually.
Melissa, Pete's girlfriend in Season 1, breaks up with him in the pilot episode & gives him a "The Reason You Suck" Speech telling him that he'll end up dying alone. At the end of the Series Fauxnale, Pete ends up alone as Ashley sets-out to leave Boston with his unborn child & is the only character left alone at the end of the show.
"Two Guys, a Girl and a Limo" sees the feuding couples arguing in Adam Carolla's limo. He dispenses some wisdom that's helpful to Sharon and Johnny, but he insists that Berg and Ashley don't work together and would be better off staying away from each other. They ultimately start dating but eventually break up.
The initial characterisation of Berg, played by Ryan Reynolds, is that of a directionless college student. The career of Ryan Reynolds would take off after playing the lead character in Van Wilder... who was a directionless college student.
In a Season 2 episode, Berg realises that he slept with Pete's girlfriend 3 years before they met & when he tells Pete, he questions if he's supposed to ask every girl he dates if she "intends to date Pete Dunville in 3 years?" - In the later episodes of Season 4, Pete starts a relationship with Ashley nearly 3 years after she started dating Berg.
In the final season, a story arc featured a girl who went to the same High School as Berg returning as the creator of a new comic book, having based the main character on Berg. Since Marvel & DC started adapting their properties into movies, Ryan Reynolds has been linked to & cast as several comic book characters, including the lead role in two seperate franchises.
One of the Halloween episodes has Johnny (Nathan Fillion) having to undo the work of a mad scientist. He would later go on to play Captain Hammer, the antagonist of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
Ho Yay: Pete & Berg. At one point after a fight, they reconcile and hug in the middle of Johnny & Sharon's wedding ceremony, leading Robert Goulet (Who was conducting the ceremony) to remark they'll marry the guys later. When it's legal.
