  • Creator's Pet: The DEOrphans were ones for editor Andrew Helfer, who forced them into the book because he had no prior experience with the Titans and only wanted to use the comic to showcase a brand new group of kid heroes.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: A H.I.V.E. mook considers trusting Nightwing, saying that even if he was using something like a Jedi mind trick, she'd rather be with the Jedi. Her companion replies, "not if you're a damned stormtrooper, Tonya!" Fifteen years later, The Force Awakens introduced a stormtrooper who performed a Mook–Face Turn as one of its main characters.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: The DEOrphans were infamous for taking up too much space and focus during Jay Faerber's run, and by the time they were written out of the book no one was sorry to see them go. Lian Harper's anger at them for taking attention away from her was a rather blunt expression of their spotlight hogging qualities at the expense of Lian and the rest of the cast.
  • The Scrappy: Almost no one could stand the DEOrphans for a number of understandable reasons. They were basically forced into the book because editorial wanted to introduce a new team of younger kid heroes. As a result, Jay Faerber had to rewrite and cut short multiple planned arcs, such as the Epsilon story and Arsenal's relationship with Dakota Jamison. Faerber's last issue involved the Orphans being written out of the series and they were never mentioned again. It doesn't help matters that one of them had been controlling Epsilon's body the whole time and practically tricked Argent into a relationship, while Lian Harper really disliked them.
  • Tearjerker: Chanda revealing to Lian what happened to her grandparents. It turns out they were in Qurac when Cheshire dropped that nuke. Lian can only quietly apologize before she angrily tosses her mother's picture at the wall screaming "BAD MOMMY!" Chanda is understandably shocked, but that's nothing when Lian reveals her mom is Cheshire. At which point Chanda is briefly lost in her rage against the woman who killed her grandparents and starts ranting about what Cheshire did:
Chanda: Do you understand who she is?! DO YOU?! I mean, it's one thing to be a bad guy, or even a supervillain, but Cheshire! She blew up an entire country! She heartlessly killed thousands of people! THOUSANDS!
(Lian says nothing, looking up at Chanda with an absolutely broken expression)
    Chanda: What?
    Lian: You hate me now?
