It's an amusing little slice-of-life moment, but nothing in it has anything to do with the rest of the episode. The edible transmitters are never brought up again in the whole series.
• Memetic Mutation: Hands up anyone who's watched Day of Disaster who doesn't find themselves humming 'March of the Oysters' when seeing a special heavy-load lorry going past.
