• Awesome Music: The score by John Barry is wonderfully evocative of the late Victorian Era.
• One-Scene Wonder:
  • Peter Sellers steals the movie with two scenes totaling less than 10 minutes screen time as a back-alley doctor (hinted to be an abortionist) with a flat full of cats.
  • Tony Hancock, in the last of his few big screen roles, cuts a memorable figure as the bumbling police detective who shows up in the final scene to either arrest Morris for stealing £100,000 or give a reward of £1,000 to the person who brought down the Bournemouth Strangler, he's not quite sure which.
• Retroactive Recognition: Dr. Slattery is played by John Le Mesurier, who would later be best known for playing Sergeant Wilson in Dad's Army.
