- It is not made clear how the detective knows that it is the Bournemouth Strangler in the piano. The film is set long before modern forensic techniques were available and even fingerprinting was still a few years away. One possible explanation is that, like many serial killers, the strangler collected trinkets from his victims and had one in his pocket.
- Also notable is that the strangler should have still been wearing Joseph Finsbury's coat, and been identified as him!
- It's kind of odd that Julia is surprised by the empty rooms in the house. Surely if she was looking out for Michael she would have noticed the furniture being moved out when it was sold...
