• Awesome Music: The Imagine Music version of "Clair de Lune" is used to amazing effect during the trailer, especially with the higher notes during the soaring landscape shots and the action scenes. Even better is the fact that the music reaches its peak when Daryl fires a flintlock pistol at the camera.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Fallou was regarded a standout from the first season due to being a helpful and competent badass who saves Daryl from being executed by Genet's men in the finale.
• Even Better Sequel: The series is widely considered an improvement over Dead City which, while generally well-liked, was often regarded as retreading old ground. The main points of praise have gone to a brand new, fresher storyline, the gorgeous cinematography, a more well-rounded supporting cast, and the inclusion of the horrifying variant walkers.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • The Last of Us: Walking Dead edition. ^ExplanationThe trailer revealed that Daryl needs to escort a young boy across France, who may possess a cure for humanity. Comparisons were quickly drawn with The Last of Us, which followed the same premise.
    • Death Stranding: The Show. ^ExplanationAlternatively, the general idea of the show (Norman Reedus traversing a post-apocalyptic world) inevitably led to comparisons with Death Stranding.
  • Not to Emily in Paris levels, but French viewers have had a field day mocking the beret-wearing zombie, making a game of guessing what outdated Gay Paree cliché could come next.^note If you wear a beret in modern France you're either: a) a Basque person, so Grandfather Clause could more or less safely apply, or b) a vintage-loving Hipster or, more rarely, a Bourgeois Bohemian. The latter two are often targets of mockery.
• Nightmare Fuel: The French variant walkers are every bit as terrifying as The Stinger for World Beyond implied they would be.
• One-Scene Wonder: Carol returns in the Season 1 finale to much fanfare, setting her up as part of the main cast of the forthcoming Season 2.
