Just like that episode, Mary and Ernest are inadvertantly put through the wringer by their son, who has unexplainable omnipotent abilities that he is too blissfully ignorant to take notice of.
• Values Dissonance: Toby's parents and Mandy regularly call the boy "retarded", even though they mean it in the medical definition of the word.
• The Woobie: Ernest and Mary, Toby's parents, who run themselves ragged trying to keep Toby safe, protect others from his powers, and keep him from being taken away by Social Services.
