YMMV / The Twilight Zone (1959) S4E12: "I Dream of Genie"

Go To

  • Values Dissonance: To start, Ann remarks that she is the only woman (or girl as she puts it, which is another example) in the office. Roger gives her a negligee as a birthday gift in the office, attracting the other workers, save George. One of them even asks her to put it on. Ann enjoys the attention, even rewarding Roger with a kiss, but needless to say, this wouldn't play well in modern times regardless of how well such a gift and attention would be received.
    • During the dream in which he's rich George is told that he must continue to spend money on himself, to prevent workers from facing unemployment, but giving too much to charity would he wrong because it denies others the chance to give. Both sentiments seem bizarre to modern viewers.
