- Fair for Its Day: An episode about a woman with a stable career, lives alone, with no boyfriend or husband to be mentioned of was flat out unheard of in 1960.
- Values Dissonance: Even without the knowledge Peter Selden is the killer, his behavior towards Helen is flat out disturbing in a modern lens. Most glaring is that he told her he had a crush on her when she was 11 even when he would've been in his 30s at that point and for some reason keeps a picture of her with him.
