• Adaptation Displacement: Many fans of the animated adaptation aren't aware that it started out as a comic.
• Fanon: Claire is apparently supposed to be a wood elf, but most of the fandom prefers to address and draw her as a cat. This eventually became Ascended Fanon in a way, as Elyse Castro compromised by making her a mixed wood elf-cat.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The series, especially Claire herself seems to have a particularly large following in Korea.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • “I want to dieeee.”
  • “THE DIRT WILL CLEANSE ME!”
  • Many fans of the series claim Claire as their “goth gf”.
• Moe: Edgar is an absolutely adorable little kitten. Claire herself is similarly cute, but she certainly doesn’t try to be.
• Popular with Furries: The series has been welcomed with open arms by furries, undoubtedly due to its cute anthropomorphic feline protagonists.
• Nausea Fuel: What the "dirt" that Claire and Edgar eat to try and cleanse themselves turns out to be. Even more so for what the "chocolates" Edgar steals from the rabbit actually are.
• Self-Fanservice: To say that.. certain corners of the Internet have been quite fond of Claire is an understatement. It helps that the short came out during the heyday of the “goth gf” meme.
• What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Was somehow labeled as COPPA approved by YouTube, despite the short's foul language and scary imagery.
