• Genius Bonus: Major Zwingli appears to have had some 12-step experience, as several of his lines (most notably, "one day at a time") are common sayings among AA members and similar group-support substance abuse programs. Possibly Foreshadowing Christopher's coming crisis.
• Harsher in Hindsight: One argument Tony says in favor for an Army career for A.J. is, "The United States Army hardly ever goes to war anymore." Five months after the episode first aired, the World Trade Center attacks happened and The War on Terror began.
• Narm: Jackie Jr. getting whacked by Vito with a very fake-looking prop gun. The fact that Jackie Jr. somehow didn't notice a very heavyset person like Vito makes the scene even more laughable. Vito slowly getting into the getaway car afterward tops it off.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Michael K. Williams is Ray-Ray.
  • Tobin Bell is Major Carl Zwingli, the principal of Hudson Military Institute.
• Special Effect Failure: The pistol Vito uses to shoot Jackie Jr. is an obvious prop or toy gun; it doesn't even have recoil!
• Unintentional Period Piece: The U.S. Army replaced "An Army of One" with "Army Strong" in 2006, and later with "Warriors Wanted" in 2018.
