YMMV / The Simpsons S26 E1 "Clown in the Dumps"

Go To

  • Broken Aesop: The lesson Homer is trying to give Lisa is about how you should live each day like it's your last and live it to the fullest. However it's obvious that Homer is taking this old lesson as an excuse to not care about his health, actions or his family's future once he is gone.
  • I Knew It!: Many fans on the Internet correctly predicted that the character who would die would be Krusty's dad Rabbi Krustofski, since this show doesn't have the guts to kill off a major character (unless the voice actor quit or died and a replacement can't be found).
  • Just Here for Godzilla: A lot of people watch this episode just for Don Hertzfeldt's surreal Couch Gag.
  • Narrowed It Down to the Guy I Recognize: Of a sort. A promo showed a list of faces of Simpsons characters saying one would die. It was somewhat easy to guess Krusty's father would be the one to die, since they're such a minor character it'd be strange for them to be mentioned otherwise. And it wouldn't really effect the show's status quo. The name of the episode probably helped, too.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Some fans would've preferred it if the episode actually killed off a major, beloved character, like Troy McClure or even Krusty himself, instead of Krusty's father, who barely had any major appearances.
