• Ass Pull: The revelation that Lunch Lady Doris is a vegetarian comes completely out of no where, being a character who not only regularly prepares and serves all types of animal products (including using bull testicles for iron and circus monkeys found in Grade F meat), but the episode Lisa decides to becomes a vegetarian in the first place she offered no support or even acknowledgement when Lisa requests a non-meat lunchroom option. While it is possible she became a vegetarian after all this and doesn't (or can't by union law) express her personal diet on the school menu, it seems odd that Lisa doesn't really question this reveal at all.
• Genius Bonus: When he helps free Dan from the grasshoppers, Homer remarks "I never thought Homer Simpson would be a part of the Day of the Locust." Anyone who was still anxiously waiting for The Simpsons to do a joke about the show having a character with the same name as a character in Nathanael West's classic novel could finally relax.
