- Older Than They Think: "Send In The Clones" isn't the first time The Simpsons spoofed Multiplicity. The 1997 Simpsons Comics story "Smitherses!" saw Mr. Burns attempt to get around a Nuclear Power Plant workers' strike by cloning Smithers and having the clones do all the workers' tasks.
- Parody Displacement: Thanks to the special, many viewers assume The Island of Doctor Moreau revolves around an evil scientist who turns humans into animals. It's actually the other way around.
