Audience-Coloring Adaptation: The 1952 animated film is considered the proper version of the story, while the live-action adaptation is pretty obscure.
The 1977 film
Hilarious in Hindsight: The merchant's daughter is called Alyona here, and her love breaks the curse placed on the character played by Alexander Abdulov. Five years later, Alexander Abdulov will star in Sorcerers, where his Love Interest is called Alyona again, except that she is the one who gets cursed and becomes the figurative beast in the equation. Unlike The Scarlet Flower, that film became an absolute hit and is still one of the best-loved Soviet classics.
