YMMV / The Savior's Book Café Story in Another World

  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • The First Savior is a take on the "Spoiled Brat Chosen One" angle and her behavior becomes so much of a hassle that "God" summons Tsukina just to pick up the slack. She's proven to be a sociopath that tortures her staff and has basically mind-controlled the prince so that she could bully everyone and get away with it, her status as savior making her presence a necessary evil. Before Tsukina even meets her, the Prince snaps, fatally wounds her and gets beamed up by "God" never to be seen or heard from again. They could have done so much with the idea of two Chosen Ones — one humble and compassionate, one lazy yet ambitious — having to share an Isekai story. The First Savior could find out about Tsukina and saw her as a threat, or she could have visited the Cafe and tried to bully Tsukina like she does with the maids, only to get outclassed by the Unskilled, but Strong Tsukina. Instead, the First Savior is out of the story without so much as a first name.
    • The Prince of Othel started out as a level-headed, fairly affable person before the First Savior showed up and bewitched him. After her presence nearly got Il killed, the Prince tried pushing her to learn magic, only to snap and nearly kill her with a knife. We only hear that he was put on house arrest for the next few years, but we never hear or see from him again. He was a Flat Character and we never learn what led to him pulling such a dramatic turn, why he did it (if it was because he lost his patience, it was a trial-by-fire situation or an unfortunate side-effect of his bewitchment) or what became of him afterward.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Hagar Arc. It's established that Hagar is the one country that doesn't have any saviors, with the finale implying that "God" wants a world of peace and prosperity and Hagar's war hawk attitude is why they never get any saviors, having to create artificial saviors to compensate. Right when its revealed to them that Tsukina is a savior, Bran uses their own sham saviors to destroy Hagar and nothing comes of it. Even in a Shojo manga, the looming threat of Hagar trying to kidnap one of Othel's saviors could have made for an intriguing series. Hagar invading could have been the way Tsukina's savior status becomes public, and the looming threat of war and all of the political intrigue would have made for an entire manga plot all on its own.
