YMMV: The Redemption of Althalus
- Anticlimax Boss: Yakhag, who's built up as a total monster, and killed in less than ten minutes by Bheid, who is shown to be an incredible incompetent swordsman and was, in fact, the weakest of the Heroes, with exception of Andine, who is a 15 year old princess.
- Fantasy Counterpart Culture: Downplayed compared to David Eddings' other works, but it's there: Treborea is Italy, Wekti is Wales and Arum is Scotland.
- Genius Bonus: Appropriately enough, the Old Tongue is (translated as?) Proto-Indo-European, the ur-ancestor of modern European languages.
- Jumped the Shark: As seen in the Beauty Equals Goodness, Designated Love Interest, and Invincible Hero tropes, this story is far more blunt than the Eddings couple's previous works and doesn't handle relationships or villains with nearly the same panache.
