YMMV / The Railway Series B6: "Henry the Green Engine"

Go To

  • Growing the Beard: As beloved and iconic as the first five books are, "Henry the Green Engine" is regarded to be a turning point for the series, with the engines and world becoming more consistent and solidified than prior (particularly Henry, thanks to his redesign). It was also the point in which real-world events truly began to seep into and influence the stories in a major way, which would result in many of the best stories in the series.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Henry, on the part of the Reverend Awdry, who had been planning to write him out.
  • Values Dissonance: The boys in Henry's Sneeze were originally described as being "black as niggers". Rev. Awdry rewrote it in 1972 to "black as soot" after being roasted in the press.
