• Completely Different Title: Korean title 그때 그사람들 (Geudttae Geusaramdeul) translates as "The People of Those Days", an allusion to Korean song "That Man of Those Days". Supposedly the real Shim Soo-bong sang that song at the fatal party.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The film was hugely controversial in South Korea, thanks to its unflattering portrayal of the already-controversial Park Chung-hee. Elsewhere, the film is much better-regarded, with international critics regarding it as a bitingly-effective satire of Cold War politics.
