YMMV / The Path of Lila's Karma

Go To

  • Fridge Horror: Underneath the Downer Ending of Lila's triumph is Karma itself, the manifestation of a Salt-Writer's spite to corrupt characters into worse versions of themselves, even the protagonists of their stories like Marinette. And he's been responsible for the Fall of the Order because of them becoming corrupt in the future rather than the present. Just how many Fallen Heroes was he responsible for...
    • It's mentioned that Adrien wasn't the first of Plagg's holders where the two partners are turned against each other, all because Karma thinks Plagg doesn't belong to his world. Not once or twice but eight times... just how many Black Cat went from flawed heroes to twisted versions of themselves with Plagg unable to turn them back. All because of a spiteful entity
    • The Fatal Flaw in Karma's power is that while he can whisper into his targets ears to get them to act, he has no full control, as seen with Lila. What would have happen if either Marinette or Adrien, in their twisted mindsets, went further than he intended? Say... rather than using a Sentimonster Bunnyx to replace Alix and maintain time's flow, Marinette decided to Set Right What Once Went Wrong by changing history in her favor, even ruining her former classmates' lives.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The fanfic is just Lila effortlessly outsmarting and triumphing over everyone, ending with her becoming an immortal godlike being who can do whatever she wants and torture whoever she pleases (demonstrated by ordering the death of a child by disembowelment because the poor kid — who goes to his fate begging for mercy — touched her clothes). As such, it can be difficult to care about the outcome of the story or even get through it, since it's a given that Lila will just keep doing horrible things and nothing can possibly get in her way. Just adding to the dread, the original world was marginally better than before Lila, as it was under the whim of a spiteful god who ruins character's personalities and fates over the minor of infractions. The end result is trading one evil for a ''worse' evil.
