YMMV / The Owl House S2E12 "Elsewhere and Elsewhen"

  • Genius Bonus: Philip's teleportation glyph patterns look like atomic structures.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Luz's giddy excitement over teaching Philip the light glyph is rather gut-wrenching after "Hollow Mind" when she learns that he became Belos and becomes emotionally devastated knowing she had a hand in his rise to power.
    • Philip calling Luz a Crab Maiden and then casually gloats how easy it is to fool her only grows worse once you learn that Philip, as Emperor Belos, is a human supremacist who wants to "save" humanity from witches. Luz is rather fortunate that Philip buys her as a Crab Maiden because if he realizes that Luz is actually a fellow human yet under the care of a witch, he may have shown his true character in the worst way possible for Luz.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Philip casually stating that witches are easy to fool and that Luz is more gullible than Blue Fang becomes this once the season 2 finale "King's Tide" reveals that Philip is such a human supremacist that he easily falls for Luz's deceptive bargain simply on the grounds that she's human.
  • I Knew It!: Many fans have speculated that Philip Wittebane might've been Emperor Belos, or at least an ancestor of Belos. The Reveal in this episode strongly implies that Philip and Belos are one and the same.
