- Harsher in Hindsight: A black president in 2013, likely the first black president, tries to bury the legacy of hatred of the Confederacy for good during a ceremony for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, and is assassinated by a Confederate sympathizer in response. Now, while this didn't exactly happen in reality, 2013 did have a black president (Barack Obama), who was the first one, and his presidency energized and brought into the light many racist, far-right, sometimes violent individuals and groups.
- Unintentional Period Piece: The above trope notwithstanding, the episode is firmly dated to before 9/11 and The War on Terror, due to Larouche mentioning Desert Storm as the last American war of note and failing to do so with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
