• Alternate Character Interpretation: While this episode is generally viewed as one of Michael's lowest and cringiest moments, an alternate case can be made (such as here) that the school and students were setting themselves up for disappointment by expecting that a low-level local business manager would ever be in such a lofty financial position to be able to afford college tuition for an entire class of students, and that instead of making a closer check into the reality of Michael's situation and finances they instead chose to delude themselves with a ridiculous fantasy as much as Michael did. This episode might even hover pretty close to uneven plot territory if you go with that interpretation.
• Idiot Ball: Jim's entire plot hinges on him deciding to go with Dwight's scores and anonymous numbers to pick who wins employee of the month, rather than pick himself. Even if he doesn't think Dwight is scheming against him (which 'es been caught doing) why would he use Dwight's judgement?
• Memetic Mutation: Pam's "yup!" is a hugely popular reaction GIF on Twitter and other social media platforms, usually signifying agreement with a statement. Jenna Fischer has given Approval of God to the meme.
