YMMV / The Medusa Touch

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: Morlar using his power to crash a passenger plane into a skyscraper and killing hundreds can be quite awkward to watch in a post-9/11 world.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Whilst most of Morlar's previous victims had it coming (he shows some remorse for the schoolboys who he accidentally killed during the fire at his school) he crosses over into evil when he forces a passenger plane to crash into a building, killing hundreds of innocent people, simply to prove to Zonfeld that he has psychic powers.
    • Arguably, Morlar crossed it when he killed his weak-willed but kindly father along with his abusive mother. The worst his father was guilty of was being spineless and giving in to his overbearing wife's every demand.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Derek Jacobi as Mouchon and Michael Hordern as the terrified fortune-teller.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Assistant Commissioner has a conversation with Brunel which suggests the British Security Services are interested in Morlar's abilities. This isn't mentioned again.
