- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: While in the middle of chasing down Faith and her friends, Clayton sees the house's own Christmas tree and gets distracted, thinking it's his wife Morgan. When he realizes it's just an ordinary tree, he angrily calls it an impostor, tumbles it over and then sadly plays "Silent Night" on the piano. Why exactly he thought the tree was Morgan in the first place isn't said or shown.
- Narm: When chasing Faith through the woods, Clayton brags about how as a a tree, the darkness and the soil of the woods are his allies, rather than Faith's. Trouble is, Clayton is possessing a plastic tree.
- Special Effect Failure: The Killing Tree is very obviously a lazily made costume. Several shots have the actors legs and/or the filling visible and the costume itself seems to change decorations between scenes. That's not to mention the horrendous CGI used for the tree's prehensile branches.
