On a world scale, with billions of people, even 0.01% death rate will create a death toll of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS. The Fridge Horror part is that the death toll has been UNDERSTATED. With how the mutagen changes people, in the process causing unimaginable pain preventing a person from doing anything else, pilots can't keep control of the planes their flying, doctors can't treat critical patients, drivers can't drive, those swimming might drown, you get the idea.
