YMMV / The Infinity Crusade

Go To

  • Sequelitis: Infinity Gauntlet was well received when it came out, and is still considered one of the best of Marvel's line-wide crossovers. With Infinity War, the main series was still thought to be fairly good, but readers were already criticizing Jim Starlin for having only his Creator's Pet characters have any real significance in the story, and the numerous crossover issues in various Marvel titles were considered to be pointless and irrelevant to the main story. With Infinity Crusade, even the main series was criticized for wasting its interesting premise of having a "good" character as the main villain, as well as for Starlin merely repeating tropes from the previous two crossovers. Starlin left Marvel soon afterwards, and there wouldn't be any other sequels to Infinity Gauntlet for 9 years. Even then, Starlin's 2002 limited series Infinity Abyss was a stand-alone story and not a larger crossover like its predecessors.
