- All Animation Is Disney: This wasn't a Disney film, but Disney still gave it a nod in The Little Mermaid (see The Cameo on the main page).
- The animation director was Vladimir Tytla, a former Disney animator best known for animating Chernobog on Fantasia. However, his crew was made up mostly of Warner Bros. animators, including Robert McKimson as sequence director.
- The movie was frequently featured on the Disney Channel, which may have something to do with it.
- Tear Jerker: Limpet and Bessie saying their goodbyes. Although it's obvious they'll be much happier having gone their separate ways, it's still a pretty sad scene, and Bessie failing at fighting back tears doesn't help. Her desperate little reach for Henry as he disappears below the waves is genuinely heartbreaking.
