YMMV / The Hunt (2012)

• Alternate Character Interpretation: Is Agnes' hostility towards Lucas purely motivated by the molestation accusations, or is she also using the charges to split him from Klara and Theo out of jealousy for them having a more amicable relationship with Lucas than with her?
• Realism-Induced Horror: The film provides an intense situation that is so down to earth that some might find it scarier than most horror films.
• The Woobie: God, where to begin?
  • Marcus, who clearly loves his father and immediately knows he's innocent, being treated badly simply because he's Lucas' son. He's harassed at the store and told to never come back, and then when he goes to Theo's house, rightfully pissed at what's happened to his father due to Theo's daughter, he gets assaulted and thrown out. Then a stone is thrown through his window and his dog is murdered, and his father is forced to send him back to his mother so he can avoid the backlash.
  • Lucas is unquestionably the biggest woobie in the film. He's just a guy who likes being around kids whose career, reputation, and friendships were ruined by a lie from a confused child. He's ostracized, assaulted when trying to buy groceries, called a pervert at every turn, and the worst is that no one will listen to what he has to say. At the end of the film, when things seem to have turned out well for him, someone tries to kill him during the hunt. The look on his face in the last shot of the film is absolutely heartbreaking.
  • Klara, who only started the lie because she was hurt at Lucas' rejection. She had absolutely no idea what her actions would cause, and even after she lies, she tries to explain that what she said wasn't true and is dismissed. Then Marcus spits in her face when he comes to demand to know why she's lying.
