YMMV / The Flash (2014) S6E9 "Crisis on Infinite Earths: Hour Three"

Go To

  • Ho Yay: Predictably, Constantine and Lucifer have this in spades - leading to the belief the two definitely hooked up in the past. Many fans have stated that Matt Ryan and Tom Ellis have excellent chemistry despite only sharing a brief scene together and hope the two characters will meet again.
  • Like You Would Really Do It:
    • Many people had a feeling that Barry would somehow escape his fate of dying in Crisis. The appearance of Earth-90 Barry confirmed it.
    • While it was surprising that the multiverse was indeed destroyed, everyone knows that Parts 4 & 5 will sort it out, with the most likely outcome being a single Earth where all Arrowverse shows - including Supergirl - will take place from Hour 5 onwards. After all, there has to be a Post-Crisis Arrowverse, and this would be the best way for this crossover to have any impact while limiting the status-quo upset its events are causing. As for the continued existence of a multiverse, Earth-9 can't be merged with Earth-1 due to Titans' continuity being fundamentally incompatible with multiple Arrowverse shows, and multiple other Earths that suffered a Death by Cameo, Earth-96, and Earth-167 also have incompatible continuities, meaning these worlds will remain separate and there will still be a multiverse, though it's likely to look very different given what the Anti-Monitor has done to it.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Lucifer turns his brief screentime into a rather memorable affair.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The whole cast of Birds of Prey. Ashley Scott reprise the role of Helena Kyle only to be disintegrated along with the rest of her universe in a scene that lasts exactly 45 seconds. Dina Meyer also returns as Barbara Gordon only in a voice role. And Rachel Skarsten is the weirdest case, because she already plays the villain Alice in Batwoman and could easily return as Dinah Redmond, thanks to the concept of the Multiverse. Unfortunately, she doesn't even appear at the crossover in either role.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: After all the buildup about Earth-1 Flash potentially giving his life by vanishing in the Crisis, such as the newspaper article and shots in other Flash episodes homaging his comic death, it appears that he will finally make that move in Hour Three...before Earth-90 Flash sacrifices himself in his place. Many knew it would happen, but were still not happy that the 90s Flash took away one of the most iconic moments of the "main" Flash.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Lucifer appears on Earth-666, after there was no direct confirmation that his series would be included in the Crisis at all, due to being on a completely different network.note  He was actually spotted on the location by a fan, and claimed it was because he was visiting a friend in the area. According to Tom Ellis, that part was actually true. His friend was having a birthday, so it worked out.
    • Jim Corrigan certainly came out of nowhere for most viewers, even if Oliver becoming the Spectre was teased.
  • The Un-Twist: The Ambiguous Syntax of the Monitor never specifying which Flash had to die in the Crisis (unlike how he specifically said that Oliver was going to die), coupled with the fact that The Flash was not confirmed to be ending unlike Arrow and the lack of other real options to replace Barry as the eponymous character made the fact that a different Flash, specifically one whose show had ended 28 years prior, and who was a victim of a devastated Earth, would be the sacrificial victim very easy to see coming.
