YMMV / The Fedora Chronicles

Go To

  • Crosses the Line Twice: The flashback scene with the BLU Heavy from The Red, the Blu and the Ugly. We get a montage of his grief over having lost his best friend, a BLU Spy, at Soldier's hands, and his destermination to train and get revenge... and then Soldier blasts him aside like it's nothing. Cruel, yet hilarious.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The RED Pyro and Demoman from Episodes 3 and 4 of the chronicles became well-liked amongst fans for being the only two RED teammates to survive the events of Live and Let Spy. People were excited to see them return for The RED, the BLU, and the Ugly, and were equally devastated to see them die early on.
  • Even Better Sequel: Each new installment is generally regarded as this.
    • Operation 2Fort isn't looked back on too fondly due to dated animation, a standard plot for a TF2 machinima, a dead-serious tone devoid of The Winglet's signature style of humor and general early instalment weirdness. Even The Winglet doesn't look back on it too fondly.
    • The Bolted Behemoth improves on the former on several fronts, including improved animation, the start of a proper myth arc, more humor and the introduction of Scout and Soldier as main characters.
    • Live and Let Spy also makes substantial improvements, such as a longer runtime, stronger action and solidifying the dynamic of the main cast.
    • The Red, the Blu and the Ugly is widely regarded as the best instalment yet: the animation (especially the facial expressions and particle effects) has made over five years worth of improvements, the action is incredibly smooth and well-choreographed, the original score utilizes TF2's established musical motifs surprisingly well, the humour is the sharpest it has ever been and the genuinely cathartic sequel hook teasing a long-awaited crossover with the spinoff series Burning Through Space is just icing on the cake.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Fedora's iconic appearance (that of being a RED spy wearing a Fancy Fedora) would coincidentally be adopted as the avatar of SilentManJoe, a popular YouTuber who frequently makes TF2 related memes and shitposts.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The RED Pyro and Demoman from The Red, the Blu and the Ugly are implied to be major characters by the ending of Live and Let Spy and the video's thumbnail, but both of them are killed off rather unceremoniously, only getting to play a major role in the truck chase scene at the beginning.
  • Unexpected Character: It's safe to say that nobody expected the Burning Through Space RED team to make a cameo at the end of The RED, the BLU, and the Ugly, especially since their story looked to have become a Divorced Installment from the main series.
