YMMV / The Cabinets of Doctor Arcana

Go To

  • Difficulty Spike: In Cabinets, the puzzles on the second floor are much trickier than the ones on the first floor, including the process of unlocking the various rooms (which now requires you to translate the name into code). The East and West Towers are even more difficult; they each have two locked doors, the first of which require a completely different method of unlocking than anything in the rest of the house, and you must find the clues which will allow you to attempt to unlock them.
  • Dull Surprise: Some of the Cabinets protagonist's reactions to things in the manor seem to fall into this. With few exceptions, they don't seem to be particularly surprised or troubled by most of what they find. Even the fact that they can't remember how they got to the manor in the first place doesn't appear to bother them very much.
  • That One Puzzle: The scarab beetle puzzle in the Attic of Cabinets is the most unforgiving in the entire game. Making a single mistake often results in needing to reset the entire thing. It can take literally hours to complete; some players who otherwise don't touch the Skip button will break down and use it here.
