• Accidental Aesop: The film makes a rather damning indictment of gun control, showing how ineffective it is at preventing people from getting a gun, only punishing those who follow the law, almost completely by accident.
• Narm / Narm Charm:
  • The red-band trailer, featuring Jodie Foster going vigilante to the tune of DMX's "X Gon Give It To Ya". What trope that falls under depends if you found the previous sentence terrible or awesome (or both!)
  • It can also fall under Hilarious in Hindsight, considering Rick and Morty has a very similar, more well-known scene, complete with the same tune.
  • You know how in Tropic Thunder Ben Stiller went into full body spasms as a parody of the scene from Platoon where Sgt. Elias is killed? That's how everyone here reacts if they are shot more then once.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • It really doesn't paint a bright picture of city life after dark.
  • The scene where Erica and her boyfriend are severely beaten in Central Park is very hard to watch.
• Tear Jerker: Plenty.
  • Erica reminiscing about David playing the guitar.
  • The text message that says only "Goodbye" with the video attached, plus Erica's reaction to watching her beloved die all over again.
  • Her talk with David's mother after she awakens from the coma only to find out he has died, been given a funeral service and buried already.
  • Erica getting the wedding invitations, weeks after David has been killed.
