- Awesome Music: The gang performs "I Will Survive" for a group of Aboriginal people, with native instruments playing in the background, complete with didgeridoo.
- I Am Not Shazam: Before watching the film, a lot of people mistakenly assume that Priscilla is the name of one of the characters rather than the bus.
- One-Scene Wonder:
- The Aboriginal man, Alan, performing with the gang during "I Will Survive" is onscreen for maybe a minute, but steals the show with his fabulous disco drag.
- Cynthia, the Filipino stripper/prostitute.
- Pop-Culture Isolation: Only Australians and Japanese will get how significant the Frilled Lizard is in Australian culture, and why they wear costumes made up like them.
- Retroactive Recognition: Part of the entertainment since 1999 is seeing Ed Exley and Agent Smith (plus General Zod) as drag queens.
- Squick: The ABBA turd.
- Tear Jerker:
- The scene where "AIDS, fuckers, go home!" is graffitied onto the bus. As Tick puts it, "No matter how tough I think I'm getting, it still hurts."
- Tick re-closeting himself, looking horribly awkward dressed as a stereotypical straight man.
- The Woobie: Adam, considering all the trauma we see him go through at a painfully young age; from nearly being molested by his creepy uncle, to being mugged by a bunch of cruel, homophobic thugs which he is clearly traumatized by.
- Values Resonance: Deadnaming, in which a person is still called by their birth name despite considering their chosen name for their new identity the real one, has become much better understood as a serious breach of etiquette in the trans community, making Bernadette’s issues with it very sympathetic.
