* AngstWhatAngst: During the mountain fight scene, when Mikey thinks April, Vern and Leo, his own brother are dead, this is his reaction:
-->'''Mikey:''' ''NO!'' Leo! April! [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg And that other guy!]] They were so young... So beautiful...\\
'''Raph:''' They ain't dead, numbnuts!\\

** While the Turtles' [[UnintentionalUncannyValley more "realistic" appearances]] has its [[BrokenBase fair share of detractors and defenders]], very few people are actually willing to defend their Hulking and massive size, most sighting it as an unnecessary change, as the Turtles have always portrayed as being short. The [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1990 original movie]] portrayed them as being shorter than 5'7". The fact that they are massive and bulletproof makes them [[InvincibleHero near invincible against everyone except]] the PoweredArmor wearing Shredder, this also means they do not need their martial arts weapons anymore, as they are [[SuperStrength shown to be able to lift shipment containers and use them]] as [[ImprovisedWeapon improvised weapons]]. Them being stealthy despite being close to 7 feet tall and extremely massive also makes less sense.
** Eric Sacks being a [[RaceLift white man]] version of Shredder also received similar reaction. While the final movie shows that him and the Shredder are two separate characters, it is very clearly a result of reshoots. Whenever any character mentions the Shredder as a separate person, it is very clearly redubbed while the character speaking is offscreen, Oroku Saki only appears in a handful of scenes and only interacts with Karai and Sacks and there is no scene of anyone putting on the Shredder armor at all.

The short characters. Even the [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1990 original movie]] portrayed them as being shorter than 5'7". Sacks also is seen wearing an undershirt in the climax that looks suspiciously similar to Tony Stark's undershirts from ''Film/IronMan1'' and ''Film/TheAvengers2012'', indicating he was supposed to wear the Shredder armor. Although, changing him back to a Japanese ninja also ended up a poor decision (see TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter).
** The Foot clan being turned into generic terrorists with guns from a clan of Ninja criminals was also not well received. [[https://youtu.be/4lnV4lmV38c As pointed out in this video]], even ''Film/BatmanBegins'', the movie that [[FollowTheLeader started the trend of]] [[DarkerAndEdgier dark and grounded]] [[ContinuityReboot reboots]] had a clan of evil Ninja as the main antagonists, so the arguments that Ninjas are too silly and unrealistic doesn't really hold water.

** A lot of people didn't like this incarnation of April O' Neil, due to feeling she takes up [[HumanFocusedAdaptation too much time in the movie]] away from the Turtles (not helped due to their dynamic being considered one of the strongest points in the movie), has too bland a subplot, and leads to a lot of what's generally considered {{Padding}}. Being portrayed by Megan Fox also added to the divisiveness, as her sexpot looks diverges from how April is typically drawn or played.
** Eric Sacks. When it comes down to it, he's just an unneeded new character who steals the spotlight not only from Shredder, who he was originally supposed to ''[[RaceLift be]]'', and to all intents and purposes, still is, but from Karai and Baxter Stockman as well. The tepid reaction to him is likely why he was [[ChuckCunninghamSyndrome never brought up]] in ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesOutOfTheShadows''.

** [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesIII The third film]] had When the trailers revealed the Turtles bluff Walker, that film's antagonist, [[AdaptationalUgliness updated]] [[UnintentionalUncannyValley "more realistic"]] designs, many fans reacted negatively, while others continued to defend the movie and his henchmen into believing they were ImmuneToBullets and while some of the movie was reshot (to remove the Eric Sacks is the Shredder scenes), the movie was released with no changes made to the Turtles' designs. Then several years later, [[Film/SonicTheHedgehog2020 another movie adaptation]] similarly changed the established design of the main character, in favor of a similarly "more realistic" design, the fans reacted so negatively, that the bullets would bounce off release of the movie was delayed and kill them. The Blue Door is well documented.

* {{Misblamed}}: The "Turtles as aliens" rumors. They were eventually revealed to have ''never'' been an official part of the story. The rumor was based on a line which, in context, seemed to indicate that the Ooze, rather than the Turtles, would be alien in origin. [[spoiler: A throwaway line confirmed this to still be true.]]

Never Live It Down only refers to characters' actions, and something to this effect is already covered in Misblamed.

* NeverLiveItDown: Creator/MichaelBay is ''never'' going to live down trying to make the Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles aliens, even though this wasn't even what was going to happen (he was going to have the ooze that gave the Turtles their abilities be of alien origin, like the original comic and pretty much every other adaptation other than the 80's cartoon and the 90's films.) This can be blamed on Bay stating that the turtles would be "[[AmbiguousSyntax from an alien race]]" and not clarifying on what he meant.

* QuestionableCasting: Many were up in arms about the casting of Creator/MeganFox as April O'Neil, due to her perceived [[DullSurprise lack of acting ability]] and looking the complete opposite of most April designs.

** The decision in post-production to make [[DecompositeCharacter Eric Sacks and The Shredder separate characters]]. Some fans believe this was a good call that prevented Shredder from receiving a RaceLift and allowed the main villain to maintain a stronger connection to Ninjitsu. Other fans, however, feel that this decision did nothing to help the film, with some even saying it hurt the film overall. This camp cites that divorcing Shredder from Eric Sacks resulted in a messier film that results in Shredder having no personal connection to Splinter (and by extension the Turtles), something that virtually every other incarnation of the character in the franchise is defined by.
