** The trailers seem have been released with content specifically to combat internet rumors.
** Showing the TCRI canisters in the trailer was most likely to prove to the audience that the Turtles won't be aliens.
** This extends in the second trailer where Vernon asks if they're aliens, only for April to tell him that its stupid.

** Early comments from Michael Bay described the Turtles as aliens, and a supposed early script leak also went with this idea along with other massive changes (like turning the Shredder into "Colonel Schrader"), leading to massive revolt from fans and even persons associated with the franchise previously, such as Robbie Rist (who voiced Michelangelo in the 90s live-action film series) and Peter Laird, co-creator of the Turtles expressing their disappointment. Jonathan Liebesman eventually had to step in and point out the alien comments were not meant to be taken as them being aliens, but as a hint to their alien origins in the original comics ala the ooze originally being created by the Utroms. The leaked script was also soon confirmed that it was never part of official production. Kevin Eastman, the other co-creator of the Turtles whom has been involved with the production as a consultant, has expressed the final film has some new twists, but will be true to the mythology of the series precisely because they know they would (in his own words) get "fucking murdered" by the fans.

* BileFascination: Various TMNT fans only watched the film for being skeptical on whether Bay actually ruined the franchise. Though most of their expectations are inverted, some are close-minded enough to believe that the movie is pure murdered childhood.

** Both Malina Weissmann and K. Todd Freeman, who play Young April and Baxter Stockman here, would go on to play Violet Baudelaire and Mr. Poe in Series/ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents.

** Mikey and April has a big set of followers, since all of their scenes together manages to be very funny, and surprisingly cute.

* SoOkayItsAverage: Many fans think the movie is not as terrible as its "rotten" RottenTomatoes score saysAlthough the consensus is that it's "neither entertaining enough to recommend nor remarkably awful"., but not as iconic as the first one in 1990 which most consider the best of the lot. Note that all of the other films have been marked as "rotten", even the AllCGICartoon one in 2007. Many agree that the story isn't that good but the action sequences are memorable and it captures the personality of the turtles extremely well.

** "Ooh, look, he's doing his Batman voice." becomes funny when it was announced that the Ninja Turtles will have a crossover with Batman in the Fall of 2015. Adding to this is that Vernon's actor, Will Arnett, previously voiced Batman in WesternAnimation/TheLegoMovie.

** Karai; after years of only appearing in cartoons, one of the most interesting and morally ambiguous villains in TMNT finally gets an appearance in a live-action movie... and she ends up being merely used as an enforcer with no character development, who can't even give a good fight against the Turtles.

** Shredder's armor has received some nasty scrutiny from certain portions of the fanbase, with such comments that they turned him into "a Transformer", no doubt inspired by Creator/MichaelBay's involvement as producer -- even though it's plainly obvious the character is simply wearing full-body PoweredArmor, the design of which recalls the Shredder of the 2003 animated series. Some shots of the rooftop battle even show that his arms are exposed, just like nearly every older version.

** A lot of people didn't like April O' Neil, due to feeling she takes up too much time in the movie and thus leading to a lot of boring moments and Padding. The fact she's played by Megan Fox, a fairly controversial actress, hasn't really helped.
