YMMV / Technique

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Fans and critics historically tended to consider this album the peak of New Order's studio discography, and its acclaim remains high to this day.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: By pure coincidence, the pink-to-purple gradient background on the album cover bears a striking resemblance to the bisexual pride flag, which Technique predates by 9 years.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: John Denver's publishing company sued over the guitar break in "Run", claiming that it was similar to "Leaving on a Jet Plane". The band settled out of court.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Technique tends to get this, compared to its follow-up, Republic. So much so that favorable reviews of New Order's later albums tend to read, "their best since Technique," similar to how David Bowie or Bob Dylan albums tend to be described as "the best since Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)" or "the best since Blood on the Tracks".
