YMMV / Tammy Lynn Sytch

  • Broken Base: Who deserves the credit for being considered the first WWE Diva - Sunny or Sable? Sunny of course was in the company first and marked WWE's first proper sex symbol, but Sable's popularity was unprecedented and her mainstream success was arguably much bigger (and she was the first to refer to herself as a 'Diva'). Sunny however was never pushed as a wrestler, while Sable was an infamous Faux Action Girl. Others Take a Third Option and name Terri Runnels with that distinction, who lasted longer in the company than both, was more effective as a manager (and not that bad when she stepped in the ring either) and has considerably less controversy surrounding her reputation.
  • Condemned by History: Although never a wrestler herself, she became famous as one of pro wrestling's first big sex symbols, and is sometimes called 'The Original Diva'. While she didn't appear for a major company after WCW folded in 2001, she maintained a respectable career on the independent circuit and was even inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011. Unfortunately, the following decade saw everything derailing for her. She was arrested no less than five times in the space of four weeks in 2012, and a sixth the next year. After doing jail time, it would be a succession of DUIs and failed stints in rehab (with a total of seventeen arrests in the 2010s). With her drug and alcohol problems, as well as simple aging, taking a toll on her good looks - she turned to adult entertainment and infamous Skype dates with fans to pay the bills. Not helping matters was her famously rude and outspoken personality - claiming she deserved all the credit for the women in WWE today, a well-documented feud with Sable (another famous primadonna) that made Sunny look like the unreasonable one. She also came under fire for body-shaming the likes of the Bella Twins, making her come across as the worst kind of Small Name, Big Ego who didn't have anything beyond now-faded good looks to back it up. With legal issues still continuing into the 2020s, she's become little more than a punchline, and better known for the controversy surrounding her. Unfortunately her latest drunk driving incident caused a death and multiple serious injuries. She gets sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison and eight years probation.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: For someone who was only ever a valet and host, she was extremely popular, and famously got named by AOL as the most downloaded celebrity on the internet in 1996.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Unfortunately nowadays she is best remembered for her numerous legal issues and infamously poor attitude than her wrestling career.
  • Smurfette Breakout: She had a tendency to become more famous than the wrestlers she managed. She even entered the Hall of Fame before most of them.
  • Unexpected Character: She was a surprising announcement to go into the Hall of Fame in 2011, given how she was only 38 and one of the youngest inductees.
  • Vindicated by History: Lacey Von Erich was a tall, gorgeous blonde, tremendous athlete from a famous family of adequate to great wrestlers, so a mostly non wrestler like Sytch wasn't treated very well when she took the exact opposite stance she had with ROH's Lacey and told everyone who would listen that Lacey Von Erich was a terrible person and worse wrestler. While the jury's still out on Lacey Von Erich as a person, her size, athleticism and family name did not translate into wrestling ability at all.
