- Anvilicious: "Escape from Death Island" is as unsubtle as can be in its depiction of the brutalization of prisoners and in showing that even the guilty have inalienable human rights not to be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment.
- Harsher in Hindsight:
- The show's presentation as Jake Cutter as an all loving Ideal Hero may be severely undermined by the recent revelation of repeated statutory rape crimes (including to a young fan of the show) committed by Stephen Collins.
- Collins met his now ex-wife Faye Grant on set of the show, whose ugly divorce proceedings lead to said crimes being made public.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Henry Darrow plays an Inspector Javert Hanging Judge who tried to have Bon Chance Louie wrongly executed for murder. Cut to three years later after the end of this show, Darrow would play a vengeful Inspector Javert Rabid Cop who would submit The Hero into a Vigilante Execution to avenge the deaths of his two friends the latter was Wrongly Accused of in The Hitcher.
- In the same episode, around the first act in the Monkey Bar, a porno adaptation of Alice in Wonderland was being played which Louie himself knows of, which is not surprising considering Louie is also the Mad Hatter, which in turn his confidant Jake Cutter is also Earth Mover. Speaking of the Mad Hatter and execution, the fact that Louie was being executed by guillotine may have inspired Louie/Mad Hatter to do the same to Batman.
- The series finale may not be actor Sab Shimono's only The '30s Two-Fisted Tales pulp project by Universal Studios.

- Special Effect Failure: The monkey suits in the pilot.
- The radiation effects in "Black Pearl."
- Tear Jerker: The ending of "Last Chance Louie."
- Too Cool to Live: Gandy Dancer from "Legends Are Forever."
