YMMV / Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The main theme song, "Sushi No.1", is almost offensively catchy. People are known to express their disbelief that such an piece was used for something that is basically a match-3-game, but with Sushi.
  • Narm Charm: The English dub seems to be evoking cheesy anime dubs of the 90's, and it arguably works with the game's Affectionate Parody tone.
  • That One Boss: Kojiro generally isn't that hard to deal with...until you run into him at The Facility, where his selection of skills and The Facility's special rules converge to make him a real headache. Asides from his usual "8 Plate Wall" skill, he has a very nasty counterattack and the ability to prevent you from using the shared lane. There's also The Facility's constant barrage of wasabi, which can temporarily paralyze Musashi if it hits but doesn't really affect Kojiro. Finally, he has much higher HP and vastly improved AI in this encounter, which means taking him down is no small feat.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Increasing your sushi sprites' sushi skill levels especially at higher levels. You either have to use skill charms, which only increase it by 10 points, or by fighting another striker who uses the same sushi sprite which is random. This can take a seriously long time and your sprites skills WILL end up being underdeveloped later in the game.
