• Creepy Awesome: Alastair definitely amps up the creepy.
• Ho Yay: The whole scene of Dean pledging his loyalty to the angels is laden with tension. The words Castiel makes him speak feel like wedding vows with a hint of BDSM submission. On top of that, their Held Gaze is shot in a way that many romantic kissing scenes are shot, complete with crane shot and swelling music.
• The Scrappy: While Ruby had her fans, at this point, she was hated by a large swath of the fandom. This made Sam being torn between Dean and Ruby feel far less morally ambiguous than the writers wanted it to be.
