• Fridge Brilliance: Each of the Totems is reflected in Kara's plot this episode.
  • Dream Totem - Kara's dream is to give a Larry King-esque interview to foreign political leaders that will inspire people for generations to come. Just like the Totem is lost, so is Kara's dream by the end of the episode.
  • Humanity Totem - The reason for the interview is because she wants to highlight how Kasnia and Corto Maltese are able to put aside their differences and come together for a peace treaty, showcasing the best of humanity.
  • Hope Totem - Because Kara threw away the Totem, she is unable to inspire the citizens of National City and even runs away from multiple chances to do so. As a result, both the government and citizens lose their faith in Supergirl and begin to take measures into their own hands.
  • Courage Totem - Kara eventually works up the courage to admit that she cannot properly balance being a reporter and Supergirl anymore, resigning from CatCo and giving William an interview where she apologizes for her actions and promises to once again spark hope for the people. And as anyone can tell you in real life, it takes courage to admit your faults and apologize.
