YMMV / Super Real Mahjong

Go To

  • Awesome Music: While most of the series' music ranges from decent to good, Tamami's theme from PVI is an incredibly upbeat and catchy track that suits her cheerful personality.
  • Cult Classic: While the series does have several installments and spin-offs, with the re-release on Switch helping its relevance, it has never been popular due to its focus on disrobing girls and Mahjong guaranteeing a niche audience. However, it does receive good amounts of fanart on Pixiv and videos on YouTube, and anyone who is interested generally enjoys it, with presentation cited most often as a strong point.
  • Growing the Beard: Though PII laid down the groundwork for the games' style, PV's switch to full anime cutscenes instead of sprite animations made the games noticeably more memorable and higher quality, leading to most people associating the PV to P7 era with the series.
  • Moe: There are several girls in the series who are fairly short, cheerful, and have a design that's focused on making them look cute rather than beautiful. The girls in that category include Mana from PIV, Tamami from PVI, and Yurina from P7. Of course, that's not to say other girls can't have appealing factors.
  • Once Original, Now Common: When PII introduced an opponent who had high-quality stripping animations, it helped the game stand out from others that only included pictures or low-resolution sprites, making it look far more polished as a result. Once animations for the girls losing their clothes became the norm, the series stopped being as special in that regard.
