• Cliché Storm: For all it does, very little of it is original or executed well.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Some people are only interested in the show because George Takei is in it.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Mike's dad is none other than Louis Huang and Kim Ill Jun!
  • Mike himself is Hiro Hamada!
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: "DJ Elephant Man" features a bad guy played by Ryan Higa, the YouTube star who was originally supposed to be the main character of the show, and his two backup dancers/henchwomen who are shown to fight in a synchronized manner and use a fighting style mixing dance moves and martial arts, which look good on screen. The three bad guys only appear at the beginning and at the end of the episode, and their only confrontation with the heroes lasts a few minutes at the end, while half of the episode is devoted to Owen's dream. Also, while it is only played for laughs, the fact that DJ Elephant Man is Amanda's and Mike's favorite DJ and a former member of the highschool doesn't lead to anything either, not even a Broken Pedestal moment.
