- Fanfic Fuel: This episode raises a theory that there may be intelligent alien life other than the Gems after the appearance of the non-Gems, which are non-sentient.
- Fridge Brilliance: The reason why Stevonnie is the one acting out Pink Diamond's memory? It's not just the lead-up to the fact that this is her memory. It also hides Pink Diamond's voice which would have given an important clue away way too early in this season.
- Fridge Horror:
- Considering their relationship, Yellow lashes out at the Earth because the Gem equivalent of her little sister was killed. Blue probably feels the same way.
- Yellow has to live with the guilt that she told Pink to prove herself worthy of owning a colony and army, while completely missing that Pink was saying it to get attention from her. Pink tried to prove herself, and died for her efforts.
- Yellow Diamond talks about performing a planetary genocide in a casual manner, almost like she's bored. How often does she do this that she treats it more like a boring office job?
- Worse, how many worlds now lay shattered? Races genocided? How huge is the Gem's empire? And if it's as large as the seemingly inconsequential attitude towards the conquest of a world seems... how can Steven and the others hope to face something like that?
- Harsher in Hindsight: Yellow Diamond's conversation with Pink Diamond in this episode is a lot harder to watch when it turns out in "A Single Pale Rose" that Yellow's treatment of Pink made her believe that Yellow never cared about her at all.
