- Alternative Character Interpretation:
- The Homeworld Gems. Does their lack of resources drive their imperialistic aggression, or is it a direct consequence of their aggression? Or did their imperialistic aggression drain their resources to the point where it now drives their aggression even more?
- Are the newer Gems really weaker, or are the Diamonds lying to keep the lower castes from rebelling again?
- Cargo Ship: Peridot and the alien prize at Funland. The way she initially reacts to it looks like a Love at First Sight scenario on her part and when she wins the doll at the end of the episode, her receiving it is done in slow-motion with Love Bubbles, as if it were two lovers coming together. This may have been invoked for comedy.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Yellow Diamond’s Revenge Before Reason attitude towards Earth (rather see it destroyed by the Cluster than save it for the potential resources it has) in Message Received was already pretty hard, but it gets even worse now that we learn that Homeworld is running low on resources (to the point that they have to cut back on the quality of the gems they are producing).
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A lot of folks were hoping that Peridot would fuse with Steven or Amethyst in order to be tall enough for the ride.
