• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Sally's grandmother calling out Bubbles' family for sitting shiva over their only daughter (all for having an illegitimate baby with a gentile), stating that they don't know what it's really like to lose a child.
• Jerkass Woobie: Andrea. She can be bossy, rude, and insensitive towards Sally, but it's still very heartbreaking that she loses her beloved cat (who gets hit by a car).
• Tear Jerker: Andrea's cat Omar getting hit by a car, which leaves Andrea devastated for days. Anyone who has lost a pet can relate to how heartbreaking her loss is.
  • Sally talking to her father about death, and how she's frightened at the idea of losing him. He doesn't even sugar-coat the idea of it, and tells her that he can't promise her that he won't die.
  • Bubbles being disowned by her family, after she has a baby out of wedlock with a gentile. Her family pretends that she's dead, and sit shiva over her- which Sally's grandmother strongly objects to, stating that their actions are ridiculous.
• The Woobie: Bubbles, a teenage girl (and the Daniels' only daughter) who is disowned by her parents (who pretend she's dead, and sit shiva), after she has premarital sex (gets pregnant) with a gentile.
• Values Dissonance: Sally's idea of playing concentration camp with her friends, is something that is viewed as extremely offensive now. Thankfully, her friends tell her that it's too scary to reenact.
