- Hilarious in Hindsight: Either this or Foreshadowing, depending on how far ahead the writers were looking. Neelix asks the Doctor if he can sing. As we'd see later, he'll go on to program quite the pipes into himself.
- Squick: The Vidiians are introduced, and their insatiable need for the organs of different species quickly gave them a reputation as one of, if not the, most unsettling species in the franchise.
