- Awesome Music: The 1980s soundtrack.
- Replacement Scrappy: Monty Hall, generally because he wasn't nearly as fast as Tom Kennedy (and on a show called Split Second, you want fast). Robb Weller, on the other hand, just couldn't compete with a pair of legends.
- Another strike against Monty: He would occasionally slip up and inadvertently give an answer to at least one part of a question before all three contestants had the opportunity to answer. One such slip cost one player the game, though in fairness they were brought back later on.
- Retroactive Recognition: Future Canadian Idol judge Zack Werner was a contestant on the 1980s version. In his contestant interview, he mentioned pursuing both law and music; he would continue in both fields, both as an entertainment lawyer and a musician. He won his only episode, opting to take the trip to London over returning for a second show.
- This Is Your Premise on Drugs: Jeopardy! on speed, at least during the ABC run.
- Unintentional Period Piece: Both versions had sets and logos that matched their decades: the 70s was brown, beige and orange, while the 80s was blue, pink, and white.
